Learn about how we work
-
Psychotherapy is a big word to describe a mental health assessment and treatment, by a licensed mental health professional, along with an opportunity to process, explore, and create growth for your emotional wellbeing.
We work primarily with women ages 16 and up, while predominantly using EMDR therapy, TF-CBT or CBT, Strength-based Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based therapy to help you meet your goals!
-
Contact Janina, at (973) 960-9672, to make an appointment for an initial session. You can also email us at jtauro.holisticpsych@gmail.com.
During that initial call, we’ll talk briefly about what you are hoping to work on in therapy, and match you up with the appropriate therapist that could meet your needs.
Once we setup an appointment, you’ll receive an email from Simple Practice, our electronic health record. The subject of the email will be “Client Portal” and it will be sent from your therapist @simplepractice.com. Your client portal will have all of the intake paperwork that needs to be completed before your first session.
*If you’re having trouble accessing Simple Practice, please reach out to jtauro.holisticpsych@gmail.com for assistance.

We offer virtual sessions for individuals in Connecticut.

Therapy rates vary based on the therapist and session length.
However, cost should never get in the way of therapy, and many of our therapists offer reduced rates on a sliding scale.
We also accept insurance, so that will help pay for the sessions too!
-
We are considered an “in-network provider” for Husky (CT Medicaid), Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum Behavioral Health (that includes Connecticare, and United Healthcare, and some other smaller insurance companies that would need to be verified individually), and Yale Health Plan (Magellan).
For all other insurances, we are considered an “out of network provider”.
“Out of network” means you pay for your therapy out of pocket first, and then get reimbursed by your insurance company if you have out of network benefits.
-
Insurance companies can be confusing, and cause frustration - we get it!
Call your insurance company, and they can give you an initial estimate of what you may expect to pay for therapy. These questions could be helpful:
“Does my plan include in-network benefits for mental health care? Does it include out-of-network benefits for mental health care? Specifically, for outpatient psychotherapy?”
“Do I have a copay, co-insurance, or a deductible for in-network mental health services, and what about out-of-network mental health services? If yes, what is the remaining amount I will have to pay before my health plan starts to reimburse me for fees that I pay out-of-pocket?”
“For out of network, what is the maximum amount my plan will reimburse for mental health service code 90791 and 90837 with a Psychotherapist?” If the rep does not provide a clear answer, ask: “What is the maximum allowed amount for mental health service code 90791 and 90837 with a psychotherapist, and what percentage of the maximum allowed amount will my plan pay?” (This percentage of the maximum allowed amount is the amount you would receive as reimbursement.)

Fees are paid at each session through Simple Practice, our electronic health record. In Simple Practice, you can enter any major credit card or Health Savings Account card (HSA).
